About
In mid-2007, Sam was driven to Drupal by his leftist social movements and their pervasive needs for better online communication and interaction tools. He spent months clicking through Drupal interfaces, eventually resigning himself to the reality that he'd just have to learn PHP. Shortly after digging in to code, he volunteered to maintain Panels, then took over the Versioncontrol API suite. Sam worked as an engineer with Palantir.net in Chicago before moving to California, where he does freelance Drupal work.
Sam's skills are with lower-level Drupal systems (rendering pipelines, FAPI, caching, testing), big/crucial contrib systems (CCK, Views, Migrate, Date, Token, Drush) as well as the technologies Drupal is built on (web servers, database systems, PHP itself, etc.). He's particularly expert with version control systems (in descending order: git, svn, bzr, hg, cvs), and knows his way around Drupal performance and scalability as well.
